Sue Abbs made waves for The Nightingale in her “Swim the English Channel” Challenge
Sue, who developed Lymphoedema during treatment for breast cancer, got the all clear from the Lymphoedema nurses in February 2018. She then set herself the challenge to swim 21 miles in seven weeks in her local swimming pool with the aim of raising money to contribute towards the annual running costs of The Nightingale Lymphoedema service.
Sue said, “The Nightingale has been a lifeline to me over the years and I saw the swim challenge as an opportunity to get fit while, at the same time, achieving something that will make a difference to others who might go through the same thing that I did”.
The Nightingale is extremely grateful to Sue for raising over £2,000 through her challenge. If you are feeling inspired by this story and are wondering how to get involved please get in touch with us.
