Music on the Terrace Performers

Southgate Opera
Founded in 1965, Southgate Opera is one of North London’s leading amateur opera companies, bringing high-quality, fully staged productions to audiences. Run by volunteers and performing with full orchestra, they present an ambitious programme of opera, operetta, occasional concerts and special events.
At the heart of Southgate Opera is its exceptional chorus. The company is known for the strength, richness and dramatic impact of its ensemble work. Southgate Opera takes pride in selecting works that offer substantial and rewarding opportunities, allowing the company’s collective sound and stage presence to shine.
Southgate Opera is also a registered charity with a strong commitment to supporting and enriching its local community through live performance. As a charity itself, the company understands the value of community support and is always pleased to support the work of other charities where it can.

Gabriella Bavetta
Gabriella Bavetta is an up-and-coming performer with a number of accolades already to her name. She started playing violin at the age of four using the Suzuki method under teacher Claudio Forcada and was a student at Dame Alice Owen’s School.
As former Leader of the National Youth Orchestra (NYO) and National Children’s Orchestra (NCO) she has performed at prestigious concert halls across the UK, most notably the Royal Albert Hall leading NYO in 2022 as part of the BBC Proms season.
Gabriella is currently studying for a Bachelor of Music (Hons) degree under Professor Ani Schnarch at the Royal College of Music with whom she was awarded a Dennis and Sylvia Forbes Award Winner scholarship.
In 2024 she performed the Beethoven Violin Concerto as soloist with Redhill Sinfonia and in 2025 performed the Brahms Violin Concerto as soloist with Waveney Sinfonia. In addition, during 2025 she resumed her role as Leader of the English Schools Orchestra and acts as mentor to its talented young musicians.
Gabriella plays on a violin made by David Leonard Wiedmer, Lyon (2019) and gratefully acknowledges its availability through Florian Leonhard Violin Dealers in London.
