I was referred to the Nightingale just over a year ago whilst I was having chemotherapy for Hodgkin’s lymphoma and there kindness and hospitality cannot be matched I have received fantastic coffee mornings massage and now receiving counselling so Fiona and her team should be knighted from my family thank you

I was encouraged to pop into the Nightingale by 2 friends who had been supported through their treatment at the centre. My first cancer diagnosis was many years ago and I dealt with it and got back to ‘normal life’ but this time things were different. I was now facing an advanced stage and rarer form of the disease.
The moment I stepped into The Nightingale Centre I felt like I was enveloped in a big warm hug! The support and understanding from the staff, volunteers and therapists is worth its weight in gold. When you are swept up in a mountain of hospital appointments, investigations and treatments it is a complete change to your life. As brilliant as our NHS is, there are limits to the time offered to patients and this is the gap the Nightingale fills.
The complimentary therapies that help you cope with treatment side effects and benefit your physical & mental well-being; the group and individual emotional therapies on offer; the gentle physical activities and the all important social and fundraising events are part and parcel of the wealth of expertise and assistance offered by everyone in this ‘centre of excellence’. Fiona, with her welcoming, friendly and bubbly character has lifted my spirits on many occasions, she has an amazing ability to just know when you need a chat or are not feeling great.
As I now ‘live with cancer’ and have learned to navigate life without the routine of work I am immensely grateful for the Nightingale centre and all it offers. I look forward to Tuesday’s coffee morning, the chance to share and to both give and receive advice from others who are going through similar experiences is invaluable but what is most important is this gathering usually fills the centre with laughter.
I have been fortunate enough to make some wonderful friendships through the Nightingale, we are there to support each other, our Whattsapp chats make me roar with laughter and we get out and enjoy life, so important when some days are a challenge.
The Nightingale Centre really is the lifeline you need when facing cancer, I cannot recommend it enough to anyone who is going through the challenge of a cancer diagnosis.

Thank God for The Nightingale Centre, seriously. Having no support facilities in my local area this place is an absolute Godsend. The staff are so lovely. They offer practical and emotional support as well as providing social activities and various therapies. It is a little sanctuary, an oasis of calm for both mind and body. God bless you and thank you all.

I couldn’t recommend the nightingale cancer support charity more highly. They have provided me with so many fantastic services since my dad died in 2021. I’ve had therapy sessions, mindfulness courses, massages, sound baths to name a few. They always check on you as the years go by and offer so many services to people on all sides of the story. Their support has been so important in the most difficult times of my life. I really feel so so incredibly lucky to have this wonderful charity - what they do is life changing

It was a family member who introduced me to the Nightingale Centre following a diagnosis of endometrial cancer in August, house move in September, hysterectomy in October and starting chemotherapy in November, which is ongoing. Having been quite overwhelmed with everything, it was wonderful to be introduced to lovely people who encouraged me to talk about how I was feeling. They offer a range of support services including complementary therapies. Thank you for being so welcoming and supportive!
