Many can feel nervous about going to a new exercise class after a cancer diagnosis. You might even think that the moves or stretches will be too hard for you. Not in our classes! The fitness classes that we provide are suitable for all levels. Our teachers assess each person’s abilities in order to set the exercise levels accordingly. All of our classes run as a six week course and we advise that clients sign up to one course at a time in order to gain the full benefits each one has to offer.
A therapeutic activity such as yoga can help to heal your body, mind and spirit. This ancient form of exercise aims to improve strength, flexibility and breathing through a series of postures and movements, it is a whole body philosophy. Some people with cancer say it helps calm their mind so that they can cope better with their illness. Others say it helps to reduce symptoms and side effects such as pain, tiredness, sleep problems and depression.
Pilates focuses on core strength, proper postural alignment, muscle balance and has a number of benefits for those going through cancer treatment and those who are not. As a low impact exercise class it can build strength and your immune system. It is not only the physical effects that are beneficial but also the positive mental outcome; boost in confidence and overall sense of wellbeing.
Chair yoga is a modified form of yoga where poses are practiced while seated on a chair or using a chair for support. It’s a gentle, accessible practice suitable for people of all ages and abilities, particularly those with limited mobility, injuries, or those who find traditional yoga challenging.
Chair yoga offers numerous physical and mental benefits, including increased flexibility and range of motion, improved strength and balance, better posture, reduced pain and stiffness, and enhanced mental clarity and focus.
