A Night At The (Southgate) Opera
At the invitation of Lucy, our very own Mindfulness teacher, I had the pleasure of attending Southgate Opera’s rehearsal for their next planned operatic adventure The Sorcerer, a Gilbert and Sullivan’s magical operetta.
I was welcomed by the company’s chairperson Colin & the musical director Neil who kindly informed me that Southgate Opera had elected The Nightingale as their ‘Charity of the Year’!
Whilst I don’t profess to be anything of a singer I did enjoy singing along (as best I could) under the guidance of the musical director Neil and with the help of Matt one of the excellent tenors.
The amount of effort afforded to practice is quite daunting and the idea of learning both the music and the words, proved much too much for this chap!
The operetta will be held at The Wyllyotts Theatre in Potters Bar through 12-25th of February 2025 and after my sneak peak, I highly recommend everyone to go and watch this incredibly talented group of performers. Hopefully I see you there.
