Introducing Meral, The Nightingale CEO
Hi everyone,
I wanted to introduce myself to you all as The Nightingale’s new CEO.
Back in 2024 I began volunteering for The Nightingale after attending one of the charity’s events. I was so moved by what they did for the community I knew I wanted to be help in some way.
I am therefore delighted to rejoin The Nightingale as CEO during what is undoubtedly such a pivotal time, not only for the charity but for national cancer care.
Over the last 5 years there has been a 17% increase of people living with cancer in the UK and we are seeing a direct impact on our services. In 2025 we saw 33% more people walking through our doors in desperate need of cancer support than we did in 2024.
The Nightingale is not only a lifeline for people with cancer, supporting their mental and physical health, but also a joyous place full of love, warmth and laughter.
I want to continue to build upon this unique aspect of the charity and make sure that more and more people in the community are able to access The Nightingale’s services.
In the coming year we will be looking to spread awareness of our services across the Borough, while also encouraging more men and younger people to take advantage of the free support we provide.
As part of this, a key focus will be diversifying our income streams to meet the growing demand for our services.
As a charity, we could not deliver our vital services without your continued support and donations. I wish to take this opportunity to thank you all for being there every step of the way, helping us to keep our doors open for the people who need us.
I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible over the coming weeks and months and continuing the incredible work The Nightingale does.
