Join in our centre activities
Joining our centre activities can boost your spirit, relieve stress and even help you make friends. Some of them allow you to meet people in a similar situation to you, so you can talk freely and openly about what you’re going through. The aim of all of our activities is to make you feel like you again.
Come for a knit and stay for a natter. The rhythmic motion of knitting can distract you from the symptoms of anxiety, stress and depression. The repetitive movements have even been found to have the same benefits to your mind and body as a meditation session. It doesn’t matter if you’re a knitting beginner or a professional all are welcome to join Knit and Natter. This group gives you a chance to practice and perfect your knitting skills, make friends and boost your mental health. Plus, it doesn’t matter if you like nattering than knitting!
Knit and Natter are currently heading up Stitches of Support, a community project that takes knitted squares from the public and creates blankets for clients going through cancer treatment. The blankets act as a reminder that people aren’t going through this journey alone, their Nightingale community is with them.

Created by four Nightingale clients who found through their cancer journey that there was nothing quite like talking to someone in their shoes Though family and friends were sympathetic during their cancer journey, it was hard to expect them to understand exactly how they were feeling. And so The Coffee Club began! At the Coffee Club you can have a cuppa, some cakes and mix with people on a similar journey to you. Make new friends with people who know how you feel and understand what life with cancer is like

Sound Bath is a wellness meditation session where a therapist works with various instruments (gongs, Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowls etc.) to create a variety of unique sounds and vibrations. The ‘bathing’ element refers to immersing your mind and body in harmonious sounds.
We hold Sound Bath sessions every couple of months for all of our clients.

Sometimes words are not enough to adequately access the experiences and stories we hold in our bodies. Art & Movement uses body-based practices and art-making in a welcoming, non judgemental environment. The group invites connection and expression, all unfolding at your own pace. Connect, breathe, draw, move, paint and create.
We also work with many external charities and companies to provide centre activities in at our centre monthly and quarterly
Almost a quarter of men say they have never spoken to a friend or relative about cancer.
We’re working with The Errol McKellar Foundation to break the talking taboo and open the floor for men to talk in a confidential and safe place. Our quarterly talks are a chance to discuss all things prostate, for men to ask questions, share their experiences and gain support from others in their situation.
Upcoming talks at our centre, all starting at 6:30pm are:
- Tuesday 5th May
