Group Activities alleviate feelings of isolation and loneliness
Taking part in group activities lift your spirits and makes you feel more positive. They also allow you to meet people in a similar situation to you, so you can talk freely and openly about what you’re going through. The aim of all of our activities is to make you feel like you again.
Our group classes of Mindfulness teach you ways to cope with life during or after cancer. It doesn’t eliminate life’s pressures, but it can help you to respond to them in a calmer manner that benefits your heart, head and body. Mindfulness helps you recognise and step away from unconscious emotional and physiological reactions to every day events. Recognising the value of living life more fully offers you something positive, rather than feeling left in a frightening place.
THE COFFEE CLUB
There’s really nothing quite like talking to someone who has gone through what you’ve been through. The Coffee Club is a space where you can have a cuppa, some cakes and mix with people on a similar journey. Whether you want to talk about cancer or not, it’s somewhere where you are more than your cancer diagnosis. You’re you again! You’ll make new friends with people who know how you feel, have common experiences and just totally get what cancer’s like, because no one should feel alone during cancer. Our session is run by previous Nightingale clients in a relaxed and informal setting.
Our Coffee Club runs every Tuesday from 10:30 -12:30. There’s no need to book a place or stay for the whole time, just pop in!

It’s an opportunity to practice and perfect your knitting skills, make friends and take part in Stitches of Support by creating blankets for cancer patients from squares sent in from all over the UK. Plus, it doesn’t matter if you’re more of a natterer than a knitter!
